Haikus—Seasons
which may be somewhat redundant
I’ve written 38 haiku style poems as epigraphs for the chapters of my upcoming novel. Some of them deserve an audience of their own. These all lean on the theme of seasons, which is typical of traditional Japanese haikus—or so I’m told. Enjoy.
Four Seasons Across Three Lines
Summer stars, darken Wind making old promises Subtle homecoming
Summer hearts open Songs skipping on chalked sidewalks Winter walks alone
A second season Fall colors over Spring green Parchment leaves linger
Seasons hold order Each storm abiding its place Heat lives in Winter

Lovely, Kim. I recently had the thought about aging - how it might be nice to be able to switch our fall with spring.
Love how these haikus set a mood with just a handful of words. I can’t wait to see them in your novel. Wishing you a day full of small poems, Kim.
